    “Weed the People” is a documentary from director Abby Epstein and executive producer Ricki Lake that follows several families as they navigate finding cannabis treatments for their children with cancer. The documentary looks beyond politics and propaganda and challenges everything you might have known about cannabis. The brave stories of ordinary families are revealed who are exploring the benefits of medical marijuana to save the lives of their most precious loved ones.

    During the five-year shoot the director recorded many stories of desperate parents trying to obtain cannabis oil from underground sources to save their children from cancer.

    The film was released in 2018 and since then many reforms have happened in the US. The medical use of cannabis is legalized, with a doctor’s recommendation, in 35 states. Thirteen other states have laws that limit THC content. The recreational use of cannabis is legalized in 15 states. In a recent landmark week for cannabis activists across the world UN voted to remove the plant from the list of hard drugs, the– US House passed the MORE Act and Israel announced plans to legalise cannabis.

    The film is available to watch through many platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and iTunes.
